-Summary: Jeannette got married to Eric 4 years after she moved in with him. Jeannette’s mom comes and asks if she could borrow one million dollars. Maureen is now living with Rex and Rose and has changed so much you can't recognize her anymore. Maureen stabbed Rose and now is in prison. Rex phoned Jeannette and asked to meet with him but she didn't want to. When she went to meet her father he told her that he was dying and had a few months to live. A few months later Rex died of a heart attack and a year after that Jeannette left Eric. Jeannette re-married a man named John. John invited Jeannette's family to their house for Thanksgiving dinner. They all talked and laughed and enjoyed themselves.
-Main characters: The main characters in this chapter are Jeannette, Lori, Brian, Maureen, Rex, and Rose.
-How is the character developed: Jeannette is mad that her mother came and asked her for one million dollars. Jeannette is ashamed of her little sister, Maureen. She is sad that her family broke, and she wishes that she could reunite her family. Jeannette is surprised when she finds out that her dad is going to die. She went into a mode that she had never been in before, but then it faded. Jeannette is pleased that all her family is back at her house for dinner and thinks that this is that start of something new.
-Setting: This chapter is in New York City. It was a November afternoon when Jeannette's family came to her house.
-Favorite quote: "Can't we do it over the phone?" I think this quote is important because Jeannette would rather talk to her dad then see him in person. After Maureen left they hadn't talked so Jeannette kind of forgot about him.
-Vocab: Cults: Followers of an unorthodox, extremist, or false religion or sect who often live outside of conventional society under the direction of a charismatic leader.
